Our weight management programme follows the recommendations and guidelines of the American College of Sports Medicine. This evidence-based programme employs dietary, physical activity and behaviour modification interventions. Participants must be 16 years old and above and medically fit for moderate intensity physical activity to qualify.

Sports Physician Consultations
It is a common misconception that only the "healthy and fit" individuals are suitable to take part in exercises. In fact, exercise can be done by most every individual with the appropriate precautions.
Our sports physicians will assess your current medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart problems. Osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal problems do not imply exclusion from the programme. Individually tailored exercise programmes will be prescribed by our sports physicians to ensure that you can burn calories without aggravating your existing medical conditions or joint pain.
Our physicians will also closely monitor your progress and ensure that you are exercising safely and effectively.
Eating healthily does not mean that you have to starve or deprive yourself from your favourite foods totally. Our dieticians will help adjust your calorie intake by analyzing your current eating habits and identifying specific areas for improvement.
Based on your individually prescribed calorie intake, the dietician will help you to formulate meal plans to achieve your target. At the same time, essential dietary knowledge and skills will be imparted so you can achieve a balanced and varied diet.
Your progress will be reviewed at appropriate intervals and adjustments made accordingly to reach your target.
Supervised Gym Sessions with Clinical Sports Trainers
To ensure that you are exercising in a safe and proper manner, our sports trainers will help supervise your exercise sessions.
Based on your progress, the trainers will also vary the intensity and modality of your exercise to maximize the effectiveness of your weight management programme.
The exercise sessions will be conducted at our comprehensive and fully equipped gym. For individuals with medical conditions, we also provide blood pressure, heart rate and blood sugar level monitoring to optimize exercising in a safe environment.
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Test
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) is your daily energy expended while at rest. Our RMR accounts for a significant portion (60% to 70%) of our daily energy expenditure. It is thus important to determine your RMR in order to better plan your caloric intake and expenditure.
The conventional way of determining RMR is to estimate through equations based on the average person in the general population. However, this result in error as no two individuals is the same.
To ensure accuracy and to remove the guesswork, a RMR test is incorporated into our weight management programme.
How is my RMR tested?
- Lie down and relax
- Breathe in and out of a breathing mask for gas analysis
- The test will take approximately 30 minutes
Pre- RMR Test Preparation
- Avoid heavy meals, caffeine & alcohol 5 hours before the test
- Light snacks may be taken 4 hours before the test
- Do not exercise at least 2 hours before the test
- Do not perform vigorous resistance training the day before the test
- Do not consume any nicotine (smoking / chewing gum) 4 hours before the test
- Please arrive 20 minutes ahead of your scheduled time so that you can settle down and relax
