Dr. Dave Lee Yee Han

Dr. Lee is a graduate of the National University of Singapore Medical School and completed his Orthopaedic specialist training locally. He completed a one year Orthopaedic Sports Fellowship at the University of Louisville, U.S.A.; where he was involved in the surgical care of competitive athletes as well as NCAA College Football, Basketball and Soccer teams. This was followed by a Lower Limb Surgery Fellowship at ATOS Klinik Heidelberg, Germany; a sports clinic which treats patients from all over Europe and the Middle-East, focusing on knee reconstructions and joint preservation surgery.

Dr. Dave Lee has been exposed to cutting edge surgical techniques used to return athletes to sports with the highest success in the least amount of time. He understands from his training that a team approach with the sports physicians, physiotherapists, and athletic trainers is critical for recovery after a sports injury.

Dr. Lee runs a clinic in the sports centres twice a week to consult on sport injuries that may require surgery. He is trained in arthroscopic surgical reconstructions of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. He also performs complex knee reconstructions, osteotomies and cartilage resurfacing. He has a special interest in ACL reconstructions, meniscus and cartilage restoration as well as the patellofemoral joint injuries.

Dr. Lee has more than 20 publications in books and peer-reviewed journals, including surgical techniques, original research, reviews and commentaries in sports journals such as the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Journal and Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology and Arthroscopy. He is frequently invited to review for various journals including Arthoscopy Journal.

He has presented his research at international sports meetings such as the Arthroscopy Association North America (AANA), European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) and the American Academy Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He has been recognised for his research with the N Balachandran Prize (Singapore Orthopaedic Association 2008) and the Japan Orthopaedic and Traumatology Association Fellowship (2005). In 2010, he was chosen by the Asia-Pacific Society for Orthopaedic Sports Medicine for the European sports travelling fellowship where he visited ten European centres to study their practises and exchange ideas.

Dr. Lee holds the appointments of Senior Clinical Tutor and Undergraduate Research Mentor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore. He is appointed as part of the Singhealth Orthopaedic Residency Core Faculty. Dr. Lee is a Council member of St Johns’ Ambulance Singapore where he oversees the building a new rehabilitation facility for the elderly.

He had previously represented his school, university and Armed Forces in swimming and water polo. He remains active in masters water polo games and keeps fit by jogging and tennis.
